too many words

When we start out on our PhD we worry that we will have too little to say. Invariably however we end up with too much and we then have the task of cutting back to the word limit. Cutting back is not just a matter of taking out chunks of what we’ve already written. We have to reduce the wordage without sacrificing the integrity of the thesis.
